The Varney Candlestick

Nathan E. Varney of Denver, Colorado built himself the specialized forging tools and rolling equipment for shaping steel bar stock into what has now become a sought-after collector's item. From an eight-sided tool steel bar, Varney flattened the center portion, formed it into a candle holder, took the short end, rounded it and shaped it into a hook, left the long end octagonal and shaped it into a handle loop, and pointed the spike end. Special hardening and spring tempering completed the process resulting in a candlestick that was a very strong and serviceable product.
